Had to wipe hard drive - need to reactivate windows

Basically the title says all. My hard drive got corrupted, and I had to do a clean install of Windows 7. Unfortunately, my desktop came with Windows 7 installed, so the activation key cannot be used again. I desperately hope that I don't have to buy Windows

just to get a valid key.

 

I get the following error when entering the product key:

"The product key you have entered appears to be a default product key and cannot be used for activation. Type a different Windows 7 Home Premium product key."

 

Any and all help is much appreciated.
