I have installed MS Security Essentials on my laptop and have activated the Windows firewall. All other firewall, anti-virus, etc have been removed from the system. Every time that I power on the laptop, I now get an error message that indicates

that my Windows Firewall has shut down and that my system is at risk. I can then go in and manually reactivate the firewall, but the next time I shut down and power up the system, the same problem reoccurs. I have run Malwarebytes (in Safemode) and done both a quick and complete scan. I have also run Superantispyware to remove any potential contributing malware. I found a few items which I removed -- but nothing seem to have been the root of the issue nor

has their removal corrected the problem. The Windows XP Professional software on the laptop is up to date. I have also verified in MS Services that the Windows firewall is configured to be "on" and "automatic". I can't think of anything else I can do to understand the root of this problem and to correct it. Any suggestions?
