Windows Update Error 8007370B in Windows 7 64-bit

Hi 

 

I am getting the above error when using Windows Update and am also unable to install updates for other software like Adobe Reader, Flash or Java.  I have tried the Fix It tool, and the System Update Readiness Tool, to no effect.  I suspect it may be to

do with a virus as there was one on the computer a while ago but the problem actually started when I uninstalled some bits of free trial software that the computer came with, possibly including an antivirus trial.

and a system format is required, however that is a different version of Windows, so am unsure if this information still applies.
