Problem installing Windows XP SP2

okay, so i was able to install the XP SP2. HOWEVER, upon doing so my mouse stopped working. I could not determine why this happened. I performed a system restore so the mouse is now working again. When I try to reinstall XP SP2 I get the following message:

Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.

 

I have no idea what that is 

or where to check for it.
