WhyCantThingsJustWork Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 (edited) Hello again. Does anyone have any tips on making my old PC faster without replacing parts etc. Especially when on games, thank you. *I wouldn't mind buying a new RAM but I dont think this PC hold DDR or DDR2, its the oldest DDR thing :) Edited November 23, 2008 by WhyCantThingsJustWork Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Hi Why, May I suggest that you search around the forums (maybe gaming and tips) to see if you can find anything that might be appropriate. In the meanwhile, in order to get any meaningful reply to this post you are going to have to supply a lot more information about what you are running on your PC. All I can tell is that you are running an old PC with XP Home. What size is your hard drive? What CPU, graphic cards etc. are you running. Just give as much system information as you can. WhyCantThingsJustWork Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Ok here goes :) pentimum 3 736 mhz o.0 192 RAM g400 matrox millenium graphic card. Thats all I can find and as you can see the technology is very old. I am playing online games n stuff and when im playing is freezes and crashes alot. I will search the forums as you suggested, thank you. Quote
chris lovett Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 You say you are playing online games but i can only assume with your specs that these are browser based. I would expect that the reason your computer is crashing and freezing is not going to be the answer you want to here "I think it's time to buy a new computer" If you upgrade your RAM you are only going to find your Graphics card isn't up to scratch, and then find your prcessor isn't. (not nessarily in that order) i hate to say it but i would suggest it's time to let go and put your computer to rest. sorry. However if you don't expect to want to buy a new computer you may be able to find some ram cheap on EBAY but can't see you buying it new sorry. Tootech Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I have to agree with Chris - your PC spec is fine for the odd bit of surfing.......ask it to do much more and it will grind to a halt. The most I would recommend with your machine is make up the RAM to 512MB, clean up the temporary files, remove software and startup items you don't need and give your hard drive a defrag :) Quote
