Guest sm14 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I have an emachines model #2245,its about 5 years old. Can I replace the motherboard inexpensively or I've been told that emachines parts are priporitary and must be the same part # or a new OS has to be installed
Guest Jupiter Jones [MVP] Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Re: replacing mobo in emachines It seems you have heard part of the truth. eMachines are like most of the rest, off the shelf replacement hardware will work very well. Where the trouble comes in... Your recovery media is probably tied to the eMachines motherboard. That means the media will not work with a motherboard from a different manufacturer and you will need to get another operating system since the original will not work. If you get an eMachines motherboard, your media will probably work. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "sm14" <sm14@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EAFCF326-5E6D-43ED-895D-74A6C0ACDD14@microsoft.com... >I have an emachines model #2245,its about 5 years old.
