Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Gaz.

Try clearing out internet explorer:

ATF-Cleaner.exe - www.atribune.org

If that doesn't work, temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall and test the links. Don't forget to turn the antivirus/firewall back on after the test.

Keep tapping F8 as soon as you turn on the computer, and a startup menu will appear. Use the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode With Networking" and then press enter. Everything will look larger, but try the internet now.

You're welcome. I have to leave soon as well.

Anyway, that test proves that one your startup programs (that only starts in Normal mode and not Safe Mode), is interfering with Internet Explorer. This would be typically be your antivirus or firewall.

What do you use for internet security?

I think Norton is very sloppy and takes a lot of resources. Consider this list of products if you want a replacement.

And Norton can be notoriously tricky to remove, so if you choose to uninstall it, you might find the below article useful.

How to Uninstall Norton

Also, try disabling Norton and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, then perhaps Norton is interfering with your internet settings.

Hope that helps. :)
