unsent message error

I use Windows Mail.  When I close the program, it tells me I have unsent messages in my outbox, but there are none.  There were two messages that could not be sent weeks ago, but I have deleted them, so I don't know how to clear them out of the system

completely so that I stop getting this message.When I open the program, I get a message saying that there are two messages that are failing to be sent.
