Guest Will Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I'm trying to install the default HP PCL5 or PCL6 print drivers on Windows 2003 64 bit. I have set group policy to allow users to install printers (doubt I need that one) and also I have disabled the option that would prevent the installation of a printer using kernel mode drivers. I did a gpupdate /force and confirmed that settings with rsop.msc. I still cannot get the printer driver to install. The files are copies over then I get a modal error from Windows 2003 complaining that I have a group policy setting that prevents kernel mode driver installation. The setting I disabled is: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers: "Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers" Does anyone have a guess about why I still cannot install a printer under W2K3 64 bit? -- Will
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Re: Not Able to Install Printer Driver on Windows 2003 64 Bit Hello Will, What printer model do you use? And what do you mean with default print drivers? I also tried the latest 64-bit drivers downloadable from HP direct. Same results. -- Will >> I'm trying to install the default HP PCL5 or PCL6 print drivers on >> Windows 2003 64 bit. Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Re: Not Able to Install Printer Driver on Windows 2003 64 Bit Hello Will, What is the client OS? You have to supply also the drivers for them as additonal drivers on the print server. I'm trying to set up a *LOCAL* printer on a Windows 2003 64 bit host OS. So the client and the server are the same computer, and I'm not referencing the printer by any NetBIOS type syntax. I'm using it as local. I've set up this same printer on 20 other computers, including Windows 2003 32-bit. All of those are in the same domain and all of those are in the same group policy. -- Will >> "Meinolf Weber" <meiweb(nospam)@gmx.de> wrote in message >> news:ff16fb665da008c9d54d1613f817@msnews.microsoft.com... >> >>> What printer model do you use?
