Guest Stephen Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I have a USB memory stick (Kingston DataTraveler 1GB) that I use for moving files between my work and home computers. At work I run Windows XP Professional and at home Windows XP Home, both kept up-to-date with updates. Ideally, when I plug it into either computer I want nothing to happen - I will run my file synchronization program when I am ready. This is what happens at work. However, at home plugging it in sometimes causes My Computer to open. I have tried to disable all autoplay by right-clicking on the drive in My Computer, selecting Properties and on the Autoplay tab selecting Take no action. Several times when My Computer opened unexpectedly, I checked these settings to see if something had changed, but all were as I expected. Is there some other setting I need to make? As a matter of understanding, are these settings stored on the memory stick itself or on each computer separately? If the former, I can't see why it doesn't respond the same at work and at home. If the latter, then is it correct that you can't have different settings for different memory sticks? Apart from this one annoyance, the memory stick works fine. Stephen
