Just bought new computer with windows 8. I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for the past couple of years on my old XP computer and it's been wonderful anti virus program. I also run Malwarebytes for safety. Windows 8 has "Windows Defender" included,

but I can't find out if that is the equivalent of Securitiy Essentials. Is it the same? Is it anti-virus? Do I now have to purchase an anti-virus program for Windows 8? Security Essentials is free download for other Windows operating systems, and I like it

a lot.  So, am I stuck having to have another anti virus program on my new computer?  No clear answers anywhere.  By the way, I really HATE Windows 8.  What a non-intuitive operating system.
