Connecting to windows update

Whenever

- I get notice that new updates are available  or

- I start Windows Update on my own

it always takes so endlessly long, although I have a normal internet connection.

 

Therefore, when I try using a new USB Stick that has to download the appropriate driver it takes long and finally end in the USB Stick not being recognised by my PC.

 

Sometimes the updates for Windows only appear on shutting down the PC.

 

All other download (files, videoas etc.) work perfectily.

 

Who knows an answer to this dilemma?
