Windows 8 mouse goes invisible after unlocking on boot

Hey there.

 

So, I've been having this problem on an off since I've installed Win 8, and it's beginning to drive me insane. When I turn on the computer, my mouse pointer is perfectly visible on the lock screen. As soon as I unlock it, however, the pointer goes invisible.

And it's not because pointer shadowing is on. I've tried that - going on and off - it does nothing. My problem is actually identical to this one -- 

 

I guess this is more of a plea to microsoft. Please fix this bug, it's absolutely crucial to my use of a computer to be able to see the pointer. (Okay that last bit may have been over the top, but you get what I mean!) I'm surprised this has gone unchecked

as long as it has.
