Server 2008 R2 + MS13-036 security update (KB2840149) causes problems

Yesterday windows update installed KB2840149 on our DNS server. After the update (before the reboot), DNS was no longer working on this server(unable to browse to any site in IE from this server). Ping to any site could never resolve a name. The problem

remained after the reboot. The server is no longer available via RDP.
