Windows 8 microphone and speakers issues?

So i recently upgraded my windows vista to a windows 8, the first two weeks everything ran smoothly, and then i started seeing problems with the software relating specifically to my speakers and built in microphone. So around the second week of having

windows 8 installed my microphone stopped working, i went in and tried to figure out what is wrong with it, and could not find anything, and then about another week later i was noticing, that my speaker volume was behaving weird too, the sound would rise and

lower randomly while watching a video. I am not sure what to do at this point.
