After XP eol's will Windows 7 upgrade DVD's be worthless?

Do you think Windows 7 upgrade DVD's will become worthless next year when XP is eol's (End of LIfe) ?? I am wondering if I'll still be able to install Windows 7 should I need to do a clean install but I only have Windows 7 upgrade DVD, so I always have

to install XP first.
