Hello Eddie

Welcome to FPCH

What do you mean, an eSATA drive?

Do you mean a normal SATA drive?

How are you presuming to record off the sat box?

Hi Wolfy, Thanks for reply, my stb (Darkbox) has a eSATA socket on the back to attach a hard drive to record to. As far as I know it's called a SATA drive, I think they come with a remote control. Any more help would be appreciated, thanks a lot. Eddie, pc49.

Any SATA drive will do - BUT I recommend that you get an enclosure for it to keep it protected and cool.

You can get a 500GB Drive for around £50 from Scan.co.uk

And the enclosures themselves are around £10-£15 - you can get external SATA drives from anywhere now but most just connect via USB or FIREWIRE - just make sure that on the back it has a SATA port

Thanks a lot friends, much clearer now. I just have to connect (via eSATA) lead to my stb, have just found a set of dvd type controls on my remote to operate it, (wondered what they were for). Looks like I've got a cheap dvd recorder,--great. Thanks again, Ed. pc49.
