Guest john Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Hi, Just finished doing server updates. Now I have noticed the date and time are two days ahead. Is there any problem with just changing the time? Novell doesn't like to have system time changed like that. Thanks John H -- "Learn from the mistakes of others! Guest Ryan Hanisco Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 RE: Incorrect date and time John, Windows doesn't have the same dependency on time that Novell does because of the nature of windows replication and the communication that happens with the FSMO roles. You'll not have to worry about synthetic time and the like in windows. The biggest issues come with Kerberos and object timestamps, but unless you've been making a ton of changes to your AD from the domain controllers that are off, you'll be OK. I would suggest that you specify an SNTP server on your PDCe and force your other DCs to sync with that -- note that they'll appear off if they have a different time zone setting so you should check that too. I would also recommend using REPLMON to do an outbound synchronization from the DCs that are off and then force the time sync with net time /domain:<Domain FQDN> Good luck. -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCTS: SQL 2005, Project+ http://www.techsterity.com Chicago, IL Remember: Marking helpful answers helps everyone find the info they need quickly.
