How do I stop the windows media player from playing when I open it?

I have windows vista. Why does the windows media player start playing the first track in my list when it comes on? It didn't used to, but my system was rebuilt, and now I can't find any help anywhere (isn't that always the case? Help files are never "helpful").

I didn't want to start playing a track just because I opened windows media player!
