keyboard "hijacked" but no malware found

Hi all, 

 

My dad's laptop has acted funny for a few months.  To give a a few example: typing "h" would produce "h6", typing "p" would produce "p ", and hitting space key would produce "p- ".  This problem happens when using web browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox) and Office

Word.

 

I have worked with a malware specialist to try to resolve this issue, but with no luck.  He suggested that the problem that my dad's pc has experienced may have something to do with multi-byte languages such as Chinese package that's installed on his pc.
