System & Error Info:

I am using Windows 8.1, 64-bit on a Dell XPS 13 laptop I got last August.

The same two updates (KB3046002 and KB3000850) have been failing for months now. I ignored the failures at first, and whenever Windows Update told me there were more updates, I tried to download all. Every time, all other updates except these two "Important"

updates would install without problem.

When they fail, and I click where it says it failed, errors 80070003 and 80070002.

Attempted Solutions:

1.  I downloaded the Windows Update Troubleshooter, ran it, and tried the download again, with the same failure and error codes.

2.  I looked up the updates, and it said KB3000850 was issued in May 2014, and KB3046002 in November 2014. It also said there were pre-requisite updates for the Nov one, that I could not find in my installed updates, but they are not being found by Windows

Update.

3.  I followed the instructions on Antivirus Software:[/b]I have AVG Antivirus Free version installed, and it is up to date. Another Antivirus software/ad came on my computer, but I deleted it with other bloatware immediately after the first startup. Dell currently offers McAfee LiveSafe with its current XPS laptops,

and it sounds a bit familiar, so I think that was the one mine came with. I deleted it through the control panel -> uninstall/change programs.
