Hello please help. I am getting the error code 0x80070490 every time I try to backup to an external HD. I cant go back and do a reset, it's been happening for a very long time. I have tried the resolution that Olaf advised the chkdsk /r.

It didn't work.

The Microsoft technical folks tell me that it is a missing registry key in HKEY_Local_Machine/SystemCurrentControlSetControlStorageDevicePolicies but I really hesitate to try to look in the registry alone. Thanks and Help!
