Drives mapped from a NAS not seen

Running Win7Ultimate. I have a NAS with several folders that can be mapped to other machines. They can be mapped and accessed in my Win8.1 computers. I have run the utility provided by the NAS mfr to map the folders to my Win7 machine. I can, in a

CMD window, use "net use" and see the mappings set up by the utility, however, they are not visible in Windows Explorer. Interestingly I just tried to access a file in the mapped drives and in the "browse" function in two applications I was able to see the

mappings. How to see them in Windows Explorer??
