Downloading to Desktop in Windows 8

Have to download a programme to desktop on W8 but when I click on download, I don't get the option of the destination I want, viz, the desktop. As soon as I click to download, a downward arrow appears at bottom left of the screen and the file ends up in

'Downloads'. How can I change it?
