Hi folks,

I have looked through a few threads but I am still unclear about the correct answer for my situation. And there are also different versions of

Win8 (which I was not ware of and seem to affect the advice given).

I originally had KASPERSKY PURE on my Win8.1 but it was causing so many issues that (since having my

Win8.1 REFORMATTING last month), I have chosen to NOT install this particular

ANTI VIRUS.

It is my understanding that DEFENDER is an

ANTI VIRUS of sorts but I am really not sure if this would be classed as a

substitute? In any case I have DEFENDER ACTIVE and UPDATED.

There is also MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS which is supposed to be free, however I am slightly confused (from what I have read in other threads) whether or not it already exists on my

Win8.1 (by default)?

If I purchase ANY Anti Virus (to replace the KASPERSKY) then many people (in the musical technology field I loosely work within) have highly recommended

MALWAREBYTES (which is apparently excellent and low on PC resources) :

Anyway, I hope the above mentioned provides enough information for this discussion to get started . . .

Many thanks in advance.

Best,

Paul David Seaman (UK)
