How long does it take for an Office 2013 installation to register with a KMS server?

I'm deploying Office 2013 to our office and noticed that after deployment Office is not activated. I can manually run ospp.vbs /act and it successfully activates with our KMS server.

Does Office 2013 wait for an hour before it tries to go out and activate?
