My laptop keeps freezing for no apparent reason. Just stops dead. Sometimes i can get it going again by closing the laptop (and so putting it on standby) and then turning it on again but usually i just have to cut the power.

Sometimes i get the dreaded blue screen with lots of info on it but the only text i catch before it resets is 'beginning physical memory dump' which is alarming to say the least but when it turns on again i just get the message 'this computer has recovered from a serious error' and its fine.

Ive used ATF cleaner and run scans using AVG, Super AntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and ESET online scan and with no results.

I was thinking that maybe it was just overheating but it seems to happen completely at random. Sometimes i can have the computer on all day and its fine, other times it freezes everytime i turn it on. Its very frustrating!! Another POI is that this laptop has died before (HD went completely) and it got refurbished (maybe that has something to do with it??).

My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro with XP home edition and Intel Pentium Dual-Core.

Any help would be great! Thanks

Have you tried going into Safe Mode by tapping F8 on boot up and choosing Last Known Good Configuration Raj?

Also, do you have the XP operating system and driver disks to hand?
