Guest Morgan Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Hello to everybody, Please help me to clear something that confuses me. In this article http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/042e7616-4b5d-4c4f-afb7-59fdb89b218a1033.mspx?mfr=true in bottom lines MS writes that : "You can only restore the System State data on a local computer. You cannot restore the System State data on a remote computer " Ok,with that...but in case that we want to restore the System State after a format of the local computer ,what happens? Can we restore the System State successfully ? Because the SysState backup contains computer-specific information ,what about the original SID of the local computer? If we name the local computer during the format process with the original computer name ,this maybe helps? Thanks for your help in advance. Regards, Morgan.
Guest Mathieu CHATEAU Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Re: Restore SystemState. Hello, you can restore system state even after the biggest failure. This is what backup are meant for. You must be logged onto the server you want to restore the system state, you can't do it remotely (from the network, like opening a registry remotely). -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr "Morgan" <morgan@heaven.com> wrote in message news:O%232ZdLQCIHA.1188@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Hello to everybody, > > Please help me to clear something that confuses me. > In this article > http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/042e7616-4b5d-4c4f-afb7-59fdb89b218a1033.mspx?mfr=true > in bottom lines MS writes that : > > "You can only restore the System State data on a local computer.
