Guest Paul Randall Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I'm trying to install the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools on my WXP SP2 system. After agreeing to terms and allowing the default installation destination, I get a message saying: Setup has detected that you are running the "MCI command handling window" application. Setup requires that this application is closed. Please close the application and run setup again. I do have a lot of windows open, but I don't recognize any of them as being the "MCI command handling window" I'd like assistance in identifying this application on my system so I can close it. Thanks, -Paul Randall

I found the problem. I had a Help & Support window open. When I closed it, the resource kit installed fine. I tested and reproduced the problem by opening a Help & support window and attempting to reinstall the resource kit. It failed with the same MCI message. On closing the Help & Support window, a reinstall of the resource kit succeeded. -Paul Randall
