motnosam Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I have a Tiny PC which had dial up Supanet installed. I have now moved to a SMC wireless system with Virgin Broadband as my internet provider. However, Supanet keeps 'sneaking in' behind my broadband bringing a load of c--p with it. Any ideas how I can resolve this problem? Quote

sangfroid Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Try Revo uninstaller. Just read the help files on the program and make sure you follow instructions. The Revo software suggested seems to have received some favourable reviews but I have no special insight and probably know less about the subject than many members. Plastic Nev Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I can actually vouch for Revo uninstaller as I have used it in the past and still keep the program. However in this instance it shouldn't be needed as the normal uninstall should be enough. However if any further problems with Supanet, do please let me know as they are my ISP, so may have access to more information. Quote Need help with your computer problems? sangfroid Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 The old Tiny models had Supanet "integrated" (for want of a better word) in the system. If I remember correctly Tiny didn't allow Supanet in add/remove. I removed Supanet by using search, more advanced options and ticking the boxes for 'search system folders', 'search hidden files and folders' and 'search sub folders'. Typing Supanet into the 'all files and folders' box. I deleted all except any reference to documents. Now that there's Revo uninstaller it should make it easier :) Quote
Plastic Nev Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I can well believe what you say Sangfroid. Supanet is the only survivor of what was once Time computers, Tiny were a subsidiary I think. The whole of the Time empire collapsed, leaving only Supanet. At the time, those of us who were subscribers, were quite worried as to what would happen to our accounts. If as you say, it has been embedded into Windows, even Revo may struggle, But it has to be tried first. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. sangfroid Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Plastic Nev , I was referring to the old Time machines. Very well built but the software was, well, lacking. Systems running fat32. Still, having said that, I have a 2002 Time pc tower still running as a third machine. It refuses to die!! Supanet must be a good ISP otherwise I'm sure you wouldn't use them. Time and Supanet, at that time, must have had a contract of supply. Dissapointing though that the thread starter has not replied yet. Plastic Nev Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Supanet was set up by Time as an ISP of their own, hence being embedded. Strange really that Supanet are the only surviving member. Edit to add, it seems that the original owners of time, Granville Technology, went to the wall, but somehow the "Time" name seems to have carried on. Must do a bit of digging around. sangfroid Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Possibly digging around will give some useless but interesting facts. Look at my previous post at the 'new' Time PC's and their 'flat panel' TV's. You might find similarly named people involved with the new business. There again, you might not.
