Hi Kev

Welcome to FPCH

What happened to the original OS installation or is this a new installation to a custom built rig?

Is your copy of XP full on or an OEM?

hi i was given the pc by a friend and i just re-installed xp which isnt a legit copy, everything went on ok but im missing the drivers for the ethernet port etc,i dont have any cd`s for it.ive opened the side and all i know is the mother board is made by abit, the ethernet port socket has p35-152-19w9 printed on it and its a 1.6ghz amd processer ive tried looking on the net for drivers but drawn a blank.before i reinstalled os it had windows vista on and was apparantly all working fine.

i was wondering if there was any way of identifying the mother board so i could do a more detailed search for drivers.

thanks for any help much appreciated.

Can you explain this bit - if it isn't a legit copy, what is it ?

Also, why don't you just install the original Vista back on it, it might be the easiest route to take.

ive got a working copy of xp.i dont like vista thats why i took it off and as ive said i dont have any cd`s for this machine its a home build, black case no names on it.

what i was trying to find out was there a way i can identify the mother board in some way and that will give me something to go at as the ethernet port isnt working so i can access the internet to do anything with it at the min.

Hi Celtickev.

Regretably, this topic in question has broken one of the fundamental rules of the forum and therefore this thread is now closed.

Rule 4 states:

"References, questions, signatures or subjects posted with regard to or containing software cracks, rips, hacks, warez, porn, non-genuine, pirated and illegal software and/or installs etc, may be removed, the thread closed and the originating poster possibly being banned."

If you purchase a legitmate copy of XP and reinstall then you may return to the site and someone here will be able to help you further.
