I upgraded my motherboard from Gigabyte DS3 to ASUS P5Q SE, on my Gigabyte mobo my CPU fan ran at round 650 to 900 RPM and higher when needed, but on this new ASUS mobo the fan speed is always at maximum 1900 to 2200RPM and is making my PC very noisy.

I have updated to the latest 0803 Bios and enabled smart fan or qfan and set it to silent mode and still didn't make any difference.

My specs are

ASUS P5Q SE [ATX] [socket 775]

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0Ghz [1333 FBS] [Not overclocked]

ThermalTake Golden Orb II

ThermalTake thermal paste used

Windows XP Pro SP3 32 Bit

4x1GB Corsair Ram 667

Drivebay 6x Fan controller [Not connected to CPU Fan]

Inno3D Geforce 9800GT 512MB Passive W/88mm fan attached on fan controller

Corsair 450w VX PSU

Hitachi 320GB SATA HDD

Maxtor 500GB SATA HDD

Sony DVD-ROM IDE

Sony DVD-RW IDE

3x120mm Case fans [ connected to fan controller]

Can anyone can help me lower my CPU fan speed and have a quieter system again :D.

A full speed fan has cropped up recently, though I know little about fan control, until someone who does gives you an answer, is there any thing on this thread of help-

Buy a fan controller - depending on how many fans you want to plug into it they can range from a couple of quid to £40

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

260GTX
