Guest mikee Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 We currently have shadow copy enabled on one of our w2k3 servers. What file on my drive should i look for to see where it is. I looked on the drive and didn't see any files or folders that should be the size of the copy. I do see the schedule of times when it should occur.
Guest Robert L \(MS-MVP\) Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Re: Shadow copy I am not sure I understand the question. Let me try this quoted from Microsoft articles. You can access the server portion of Shadow Copies for Shared Folders through the Shadow Copies tab of the Local Disk Properties dialog box. The minimum amount of storage space that you can specify to be used for storing shadow copies on the storage volume is approximately 100 megabytes (MB) for computers running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003. It is approximately 300 MB for Windows Server 2003 with hotfix 833167 applied. The default storage size is 10% of the source volume (the volume being copied). When the storage limit is reached, older versions of the shadow copies will be deleted and cannot be restored. There is also a limit of 64 shadow copies per volume that can be stored. When this limit is reached, the oldest shadow copy will be deleted and cannot be retrieved. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "mikee" <mikee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DF94A584-23FA-497F-B7BA-8262F340A903@microsoft.com... > We currently have shadow copy enabled on one of our w2k3 servers. Guest mikee Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Re: Shadow copy Where on the server can i see how much space it is taking up. ie d:\root or what would the log file name be? I did specify it be saved to d: but i don't see any large files. I do see in the properties of d: that i am using 90gb, but the largest file i see is 25mb. I have change my view to show hidden files and folders and unchecked hide protected operating systems files. Thanks in advance "Robert L (MS-MVP)" wrote: > I am not sure I understand the question.
