Hey JaZz, yes the P5N-D will be fine for a Q6600 i believe, as if you follow the link you gave, a little further down it says:

"Features:

- Intel Core 2 Quad / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium Extreme / Pentium D / Pentium 4 Processors

The Q6600 is an Intel Core 2 Quad core and should work, maybe with a BOIS upgrade or such, I'll check Asus's website for you and confirm that now.

EDIT:

Yes the Asus website says in the specifications for that mobo:

"It also can support Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-Core CPU"

Which means that it will also support the Q6600 as it is a 65nm Processor.

Hopefully someone can confirm this but I'm 99.9% sure it should support the Q6600 straight out the box.

the link to the Asus spec is: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Be very careful if it says 'supports quad core' as it will need a BIOS update and unless you have another LGA775 chip lying around - you cant do the update

hey ppl.i got the mobo finally.just wanted to ask before i begin to swap everything around,is it going to be an easy job.meaning i know that i would have to install the graphic card driver again,my only consern is the hard drives, would I still be able to run Vista (my OS) or woudl i have to install it all over again and lose everything and have to start again?

just to mention i got the P5N D and emailed misco the place where i got the mobo and they confirmed thr P5N D would support the q6600 straight out the box :)

thank you
