Preventing user from concurrent logons (Win2K)

Two questions:

1. Is it possible to prevent users from having more than one concurrent

logon on Windows 2000 TS? I know I have this working in Windows 2003 TS, but

I do not know if it is possible with Win2K or, if so, where to set it.

2. Is it possible (Windows 2003 or Win2K) to allow administrators (or a

specific list of users) to have multiple concurrent connections, but not

other users?

Re: Preventing user from concurrent logons (Win2K)

From Microsofts Terminal Services FAQ

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/en-

us/terminal/terminal_faq.mspx

Q. How can I limit Terminal Services so that a user can connect

only one time?

A. For Windows 2000, there is a third-party application available

that does this. For more information, see thethin.net/r25b.zip.

From

http://ts.veranoest.net/ts_faq_configuration.htm#multiple_sessions

Q: Can I limit most users to a single session, while allowing other

users multiple sessions?

A: The scope of the "Restrict each user to a single session"

setting is server-wide, so you can't configure it differently for

different user groups. But there are 2 work arounds:

* allow multiple sessions on the server and use a freeware

utility like LockSingleUser to restrict certain users

from starting more than one session

http://thethin.net/r25b.zip

* restrict all users to a single session and define a starting

application in the AD account properties of the users who

should be allowed multiple sessions. Define the starting

applications as:

cmd.exe /c explorer.exe

This will allow the users to start multiple sessions, using the

"feature" documented here:

302883 - "Restrict Each User to One Session" Setting in

Tscc.msc Does Not Work
