stegti6luvr Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Ive fitted an ATi Radeon HD3450 Graphics Card to my board (MCP61SM-GM) via the 16x PCI-E Slot , The computer booted up fine but when I installed the drivers & re-booted it gets as far as when the desktop screen supposed to appear but just shows a blank screen, Ive disabled the onboard graphics & uninstalled/re-installed the card via safe mode but still no joy, Next step is im going to download the latest drivers from ATi's site & see if that works, Any suggestions? Dalo Harkin Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Make sure that you uninstall the old drivers and then manually navigate to the ATI folder in C:/program files/catalyst and delete all in there too when you download the latest driver - get the DRIVER only and not the CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
stegti6luvr Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 I didnt uninstall the drivers, I uninstalled the "Catalyst Control Centre" first (As I can now see Dalo Harkin has mentioned) and it works fine, Only problem now is I think there is a conflict between sound now because the graphics card has 5.1 HD audio & my on board graphics is 5.1 HD audio, Ive disabled the audio on the graphics card & checked all the audio settings but the sound will only work through the front jack? Im going to have another fiddle later, Again any suggestions? Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 The GPU is capable of sound - BUT its normally through an HDMI cable as the video and the sound travel on the same channel unlike most PC's as you have a DVI or VGA input for the video and jacks for the audio. unless you are running HDMI - no sound should be coming from the GPU even though it is capable of doing so Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
