Guest Newbie Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Hello, We have 2 servers, server01 and server02. A week ago, the server01 is dead, so we install new server name server03. How do we clean server01 in our active directory? Thanks

Guest Ryan Hanisco Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 RE: old server name If this is a domain controller, you'll want to have demoted it when you pulled it out. Otherwise you'll have to do a metadata cleanup. If it was just a regular server, it'll be much easier. In that case, you'll only need to delete the computer account in ADU&C and pull the corresponding DNS records. Normally these happen automatically, but sometimes they linger. Hope this helped. -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCTS: SQL 2005, Project+ http://www.techsterity.com Chicago, IL Remember: Marking helpful answers helps everyone find the info they need quickly.
