Guest bagger Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Scanning problems, old system, Dell 4100, ME, IE6 SP1. 3rd party issue with Visioneer 6100, USB connected with Paperport 6.1software. Problem just started with no changes to the system. Scans do not work in black/white mode from TWAIN tool dialog box. Grayscale & color is OK, meaning scanning a B/W article in the color or grayscale mode scans OK, but not in the B/W mode. Been using the system for 7 yrs without problems. Unless someone in this NG could have tips, could someone point me to a techie message board? tia
Guest Mike M Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Re: Off topic to this NG If the problem is recent have you tried using system restore and rolling your system back to a checkpoint created prior to the problem? This should restore any file that might have been accidentally deleted and also restore any changes that might have been made to the registry. If this fails to fix the problem I would try uninstalling the Paperport software and then reinstalling it again. -- Mike Maltby mike.maltby@gmail.com bagger <bagger@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > Scanning problems, old system, Dell 4100, ME, IE6 SP1. 3rd party > issue with Visioneer 6100, USB connected with Paperport 6.1software. > Problem just started with no changes to the system. Yes, had done this to no avail >If this fails to fix the problem I would try uninstalling the Paperport software > and then reinstalling it again. This did the trick, sometimes hesitate to mess with these operations, but better than purchasing a new system. I'm pleased to read that you've managed to fix the problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling often seems to fix certain sorts of problems. I've just had to do the same here with my Hauppauge DVB-T Nova 500 dual tuner which decided to start randomly blue screening when viewing TV (but not if just recording). Nothing had changed and I couldn't fix the problem until I decided to remove every component (fortunately Hauppauge provide a tool to do just this) and to clean install. Now it is back working as it should and I am watching TV in a window as I'm typing this reply. -- Mike Maltby mike.maltby@gmail.com
