Guest JP Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I have a existing NT 4.0 domain and will be installing a SBS 2003 R2. Not sure if I will create a new forest or use the Active Migration v3 tool. My question, can you share resources between a NT domain and a separate SBS 2003 forest? I know that trusts are not allowed between the two systems.
Guest Ryan Hanisco Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 RE: SBS 2003 & NT 4.0; sharing between Jp, You are right in that you can't create a trust, but if you are Ok with entering foreign credentials you'll be just fine. You will want to set up WINS to make it so that you can effectively find everything. -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCTS: SQL 2005, Project+ http://www.techsterity.com Chicago, IL Remember: Marking helpful answers helps everyone find the info they need quickly. Guest JP Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 RE: SBS 2003 & NT 4.0; sharing between Am not sure what 'foreign credentials' means. To rephrase my idea of what I want to do. I want to get the SBS installed and not have the users really know that they are working off of the new server (and/or domain). I don't want anyone to have to enter in another logon when trying to access the original domain when opening files/printing or using a network fax system in place on the old server. Also I want to just have to attend to one workstation at a time and gradually bring the clients onto the SBS.
