Terminal server profile for specific server?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a terminal server which is used by users from another domain. Those

users already have terminal server profiles for use with other terminal

servers and I can't control user policy on that domain.

When these users log into my terminal server I don't want their terminal

server profile or roaming profile to be used, and if I can have only a single

application open that would be even better - I take it I can do that within

..rdp file, but that doesnt stop their profile from loading.

Is there a way to force a mandatory profile for when they log into this

specific server without effecting their existing terminal services profile

used on other servers? I can not make any changes to their domain accounts

or group policy so everything must be done on the terminal server itself.

Re: Terminal server profile for specific server?

Try using a system environment variable in the path you specify for the

profile in the user's AD settings and have this defined on each system to

either be to the share for the roaming profile or a local path that points

to your mandatory profile. I have successfully used this in the past.

Also look at having a specific GPO for the "mandatory profile" servers as

you can set a roaming profile in "Set Path for TS Roaming Profiles" which is

in Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows

Components->Terminal Services which can have a local path as well as a UNC.

This is under W2K3.
