Guest kilimanjaro Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Posts 1 No administrator rights on server 2003 even though part of administrator group Hi Guys As there does not appear to be a server 2003 forum I'm posting here. I have installed 3 member servers as part of a domain (Two AD domain controllers). When logging onto these servers with the administrator account used to logon to the DC's I am unable to perform administrator functions even though the administrator account has been added to the local administrator group. When logging on I cant even right click. We are running Group policy managment but the admin accounts do not have any profiles attached and do not appear under any GPolicy managment. I'm also prevented from installing Sophos, I can install the auto update but not the anti virus package. To sum up I've added the domain admins, administrators to the administrators group under local users and groups on each server I've assinged full permissions for administrators to all files and directories on each server. I've checked the gpolicy managment to check there are no policies affecting the account (unlikley as logging on to the DC's allows full control of all aspects of server managment) I'm stumped. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Cheers Andy

But you can create a user account and add it to the Domain Admins group in AD, then log on to the other servers with the user account. That should solve the problem. -- James McIllece, Microsoft Please do not send email directly to this alias. This is my online account name for newsgroup participation only.
