NetBT Error

This error comes from the system log of a 2003 Standard server (SP1):

The source is NetBT

The name "DOMAIN :1d" could not be registered on the Interface

with IP address 192.168.1.22. The machine with the IP address

192.168.1.20 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

When I check out the link all I see is to check network connections

I can ping the DNS server which is also the DHCP server and PDC.

This server runs BES and Rightfax, it is configured as a file server

and application server.

Do any of you gurus have other ideas how to resolve this?

(i.e. make it go away?)

Re: NetBT Error

Hello,

Do you have wins ?

Is the SBS multihomed (more than one network's card) ?

Re: NetBT Error

check the network's card order on the SBS.

The internal one must be the primary. This is in the network control panel,

advanced tab in tools on close to it.

I did as you suggested and that seemed to do the trick. Performance

has certainly improved. Which leaves me with more questions

A. Could this effect DiscQueue length? I was seeing upwards of 12's

and 14's where I know it should be < 3. It's currently in the .012 to .

788 range which is what I would expect.

B. Let's say that the internal nic was originally #1 in priority. (the

server has been running flawlessly for 3 years) Could something like

software installation change the priority?

Software no, but driver update (manual or through windows update) may.
