Recently, i have been getting this pop-ups that says "NMIindexingstoresrv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". Now i know for the fact that NMIindexing is a feature of Nero 7 which i have installed. But it is causing my pc to hog a lot.

Personally i don't think it's malware but who knows? I have the Home edition of Avast installed and it is always updated, but i'm thinking maybe it did not detect a malware infection because of the fact that it is free. (i.e. free software = not so great ones.)

Guys, what are your thoughts? Help me get rid of this annoying pop up.

:)

Common Nero problem

Hi there,

After a search on the tinternet i have found that this seems to be a common problem found within Nero.

And for a resolution i can only suggest you remove this from your startup programmes if it opens when you start up. this can be done by going to:

Start -> All Programs -> Startup -> and delete Nero from there.

This is not the best resolution but will stop it openeing on startup and will leave your computer happy to do what it wants. Then when you want to use Nero Close what you can and cross your fingers.

This should help you out untill someone with experience with Nero can help you but personally i don't use it.

Hope i helped

If Computers always worked i would be out of a job. This is why i love to hate computers. :)

Neither do I

There are far better burning programs out there.

Any suggestions Wolfie? in the past I found Windows media player reasonable, but now find Real Player a tad quicker if only burning music. Not that I use it much, I don't write enough to need mega burning of disks. Usually just one to back up the file.

:focus: I believe that the original post expressed concerns regarding malware and specifically the use of Avast and other freeware. You should be aware Aldin that Avast is included within FreePC Help's list of recommended malware protection and some members list it as no. 1 among the free programs.

You should not, however, not rely on antivirus alone and would be well served to consider choosing some antimalware programs as well. Take a look at this.

Considering that the original question was in regard of an annoying popup that has been linked to Nero by Chris Lovet, I would at least recommend uninstalling Nero, then re-install, but more favourable would be to install something less troublesome. Let us know how you get on aldin.

Ok it is now sorted out. I have disabled the Nero program that causes it and so far everything is going out well. I had the nero as a bundle in the DVD-Rw that I bought but I don't use it that much, except when i made a backup disk.

Now about the avast thing, I'm sure it is still a good antivirus program in spite of its being a freeware.

Anyways, thanks for the info guys. Continue rocking! :)
