My computer is working fine right now, thank goodness ... but it did a very odd thing earlier. While a 'written by me' CD was in the drive, just as I hit the eject button the computer shut down instantly and completely. Booted itself back up (whew!) and the below windows(s) came up.

Would someone please take a peek at the "error signature" part, etc and perhaps advise if it's serious or just one of those hiccups that happens once and never returns.

Thanks ever so much.

(Drat! Think I've done something wrong as the 'images' don't show ... and I can't figure out how to delete the attachments and fix things lest they are not readable on other's computers)

Have you recently installed any new software Mara?

The images are in bitmap format and are perfectly legible but it may be wiser to upload in .jpeg format next time.

Will remember about using jpeg next time - and thanks for the advice.

Nope, haven't downloaded nor installed any new programs for nearly two weeks and the computer was working fine before - and since - this hopefully isolated incident.

The coding numbers, etc supplied in those images unfortunately don't mean anything to me - and I'm just a tad worried it could be a signal of future woes.

Wouldn't it be lovely if Windows just used 'common speak' to explain what's happening when something goes wrong - gentle smile.

On the last picture Mara - it shows that it was accessing the temp folder - what happens when things are wrote to temp (temp is basically used to temporarily store a file, and when the file is done with it gets deleted automatically)

Chances are you ejected the CD when the temps were still being accessed - even to be deleted and they crashed the system.

it will be a one of error and will sort itself :)

Yipee!! What a relief to know it was a 'one of' - and thanks too for explaining about the temporary files and how it can happen.
