Guest LincolnIT Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 We have about 6 Windows XP machines that suddenly cannot browse the server shares on the DC. These computers are not running the login scripts from the server automatically and I think this is why. Other XP machines are not having this issue. If you try to browse to the server using its ip address the shares do appear. I've tried the following with no success: -using a host file with the servername and ip address -enabling netbios over ip -ipconfig /flushdns

Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Re: Can't browse server shares Hello LincolnIT, The server looks ok. But from the client remove the 167.x.x.x addresses (your ISP's DNS server? and if yes) add them as forwarder to the DNS server properties in the DNS management console. After that you can also browse the internet but the client will always look to the internal DNS and then the share problem should be gone. Guest LincolnIT Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Re: Can't browse server shares I understand your thinking with this, but its strange how ALL of the computers have the same settings for DNS but only a few are having this issue. I will try anyway to manually set DNS for the internal server and see what happens. If this does not resolve is there something else you would look at? Guest Lincit Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Re: Can't browse server shares One of the shares is netlogon and that certainly is not hidden. I can access all the shares if the ip address of the server is used instead of the hostname. All clients use DHCP.
