Guest Sue Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Does any one know of any software/method that will automatically backup on logoff? We need to backup mydocuments and any other files including database and emails that users have saved on the local harddrive (C;) and shared network drives. Is this possible to configure in the windows Active Directory? Can the files be set up to backup on logoff by synchronizing roaming profiles? Any disadvantages to this? Sorry for all questions - thanks for any help - I am wondering how I should set up a good backup strategy, I have software suggestions for Legato and Retrospect.

Hello, Roaming profile are great, but every thing must be inside the roaming profile to get backuped. You will have problems with pst files, for example they are exluded from offline folder. You may use a simple script that is executed at logoff through GPO (robocopy...) You may use both roaming profile for the windows profile itself, and also use a script for fancy things. -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr "Sue" <sea_099@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1192225558.000228.313070@e34g2000pro.googlegroups.com... > Does any one know of any software/method that will automatically > backup on logoff? Desktop Authority from ScriptLogic has a feature that will allow you to configure the backing up of a folder during logoff. The configuration element I am referring to is the File Operations element in Desktop Authority. It allows you to specify files to copy, move/rename, delete, etc. You can have this occur during logoff if that is what you want. -- Jack Doyle, Systems Engineer ScriptLogic Corporation http://www.scriptlogic.com
