Guest Mathieu CHATEAU Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Re: Where to store/save user profiles? Hello, don't you have a files server ? provide size of partitions. looks like you followed some recommended or best practice partition scheme, but that may not fit your needs, as you seems to only have one server of everything. This scheme is for high loaded DC, where they are only DC and nothing more. -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr <chris.wilkins10@virgin.net> wrote in message news:1192273591.975836.182200@v23g2000prn.googlegroups.com... > I'm looking into setting up default, mandatory and roaming profiles. > Which is the best location to save these? > > My Active Directory is divided into several partitions:- > > Partition C: = OS ie. Guest chris.wilkins10@virgin.net Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Re: Where to store/save user profiles? Hi, Last night I was watching my 'Training Signal DVD's' and guess which one - DFS. I started thinking about profile locations and DFS just as you have stated below. So just to clarify, any Profile location set up using DFS would be replicated to other server folders. In the event of a profile folder server not being avaiilable DFS will find another working server and load a profile. A would like to set up a custom profile for volunteers that they can't change. Many volunteers use different PC's in different offices. I would like to make so they all see the same desktop. Default profile - I would like to create one but does not the mandatory profile (above) archive the same. Managers tend to roam in are Office to oversee the volunteers. I expect I'll be setting up a Roaming profile created from a default managers profile. Back to my original question about storing profile location Would it be OK to store in the SYSVOL partition? Chris.. Guest Mathieu CHATEAU Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Re: Where to store/save user profiles? You can store them in this partition, but it would never be full or you will get in real troubles. Apply quota to profile to enforce their maximum size. The sum of them mustn't fill the partition. -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr <chris.wilkins10@virgin.net> wrote in message news:1192380418.023286.173250@e34g2000pro.googlegroups.com... > Hi, > Last night I was watching my 'Training Signal DVD's' and guess which > one - DFS.
