Guest ykffc Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 My first Windows 2003 Standard version server has setup a printer called PP1. It can print normally from the local machine and it can be shared. If I add the above printer to an Windows XP machine from the network, the installation works smoothly and it can print normally. My second server runs Windows 2003 x64 version. I setup a local printer (same model and make) with name PP2. Again it can be shared. The printer prints normally from application running on the local machine. If I try to add PP2 to the same Windows XP machine, I receive an error. It complains "the server for the PP printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for proper driver, click ok. Otherwise Cancel and contact your netwwork admin...or OEM for the correct driver". So my machine cannot print to the second shared printer. I check the printer manufactures site info, it says the driver I installed for the second server will not support clients that runs 32 bit version of OS. Does anyone have a solution how this can be resolved? Assume my intention is to retire the first server, does it mean it is a mistake to run the x64 bit version of Windows on the server when all our Windows XP machines are running standard XP professional OS?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Re: Add network printer from server running x64 Version Hello ykffc, What model/vendor is the printer? You have to use 32bit drivers for the clients if they are 32bit machines.
