~4.6 GB data folder on DVD is fully readable from the DVD player?

I put 1500 .flv files into one major folder, and burnt them onto a 4.7GB DVD on

a Win XP machine. I brought the DVD over to my Win 98SE machine, and I don't

intend to copy the DVD to the hard drive, just play the files from the DVD. In

My Computer, it says the DVD is using 1.99 GB. I'm wondering if Win 98SE will be

able to read all of the files in this one folder (~4.6 GB folder)? I suspect

every file WILL be available for reading.

What is the 'total' file size of these 1500 files all together? 1.9 GB?

It sounds like the 1500 files only total 1.9 GB, even though your DVD can

hold up to 4.7 GB, and so you had plenty of room left..

If your SE box has a DVD and your burn was good, then yes why not?

By now you probably know, so you tell us.

However, i have checked for the reported size of many of my

commercially bought DVD-ROM's under both Win98SE and WinXP. I

have found that for somewhere between more then half to most of

them Win98SE mis-reports the size as 1.99 GB even when a larger

more correct number is reported by WinXP. Still, under Win98, all

files are found using 'Find' and all files can be copied. So, in

my experience, except for this size-reporting error, things work

fine.

Caveat. Since i noted this and started to take notice, i have

been looking at the discs with older DVD-Player Hardware under

Win98SE then under WinXP.

But the unsolved issue for me is why for some DVD-ROM's Win98SE

manages to show Total Size' a correct and larger number then 1.99 GB.

Nah-ah. I'm staying out of this. ... Now, here's my opinion.
