hi,

is there anyone out there who could possibly help, i'm being driven crazy by constant 'pop ups' in internet explorer from CiD Adserver. I'm not very clever when it comes to the technical stuff. My pc is running windows xp home edition sp3, i currently have avg free and i have recently downloaded superantispyware

regards

Lee .

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

The tools listed in that post should have eliminated most issues.

May I suggest downloading CiD's own 'universal uninstaller' from their web page. Search the Web! . Go to section 4, paragraph 5. Download to your desktop. Download, install and update Superantispyware (if not already done). Start the PC in safe mode, usually by tapping F8, or F5 on some PCs, without internet connection and run the 'universal uninstaller'. Run SAS in full mode. Reboot and I would humbly suggest running Ccleaner to clean up after removing CiD. It has a mild registry cleaner and also cleans out temp files, cookies etc. It will also remove saved passwords which is a good thing I think. Edited by sangfroid

CCleaner is a most excellent program Sangfroid but lethal if used incorrectly, this is why we do not advocate it in the mainstream, so many registry entries may be corrupted by an incorrect use of this program.

I understand Wolfeymole but sometimes problems need to be cleaned up, something like your 'cleaner' that comes with your standard reply. I understand that any registry cleaner or defrag or even checkdisc programs can go wrong. Ccleaner comes with full help files but used in default mode certainly helps more than hinders. I respect the forum's views, though, that is why I did not include a link.

I downloaded the 'Universal Uninstaller' and followed your instructions, the problem seems to have been solved. The pc has been on all day and not one pop up !!!:D:D:D:D
